Women of Wonder
This collection celebrates women fantasy artists. I am familiar with some of the artists like Kinuko Craft, Ruth Anderson, Anne Yvonne Gilbert, Sulamith Wolfing.
I'm not sure the artists' best works were featured. For example Anne Yvonne Gilbert had a drab vampire scene, when she had so many other delightful pieces(try googling her images). Same thing with Jody A. Lee (who illustrates for Mercedes Lackey). It was quite interesting to see the connection between fantasy literature and fantasy art.
A 2nd collection Women of Wonder should attempt to solicit works from Susan Seddon Boulet, Josephine Wall, Laurel Long, Helen Nelson Reed (imho). I'd also prefer to see more than 1 piece by the artists, to really get sense of their style. Four pieces side by side would work.
I did stumble upon one really interesting artist, Rose O'Nell, who for a time was the highest paid and most popular illustrator. Her comic strip The Kewpies led to the Kewpie dolls. A feminist, bohemian, and supporter of other artist, she hailed from Missouri, and her work is featured at the College of the Ozarks.
