Jordan Banks is going to be the new kid at his elite private school. Known for its academic rigor, Jordan is one of a few kids of color in his school.
This book details the difficult transition Jordan has each day as he travels from his ethnically diverse neighborhood of Washington Heights to an elite school where the students and staff are mostly white. It brilliantly points out the disparity of treatment to the kids of color but also the faculty and staff of color in the school all the while the white teachers and administrators are unaware they are doing anything of the sort. This was a well done graphic novel with a lot of food for thought.
