Robinson is being raised by her grandpa. She has no knowledge of her mom other than that she is dead. She doesn't even know her mom's name. She has so many questions for her grandpa but he refuses to speak of her background. His memory is slipping and Robbie is afraid that she may never know if she waits too long to question him.

This book was sad but not without hope. Robinson has a lot of anger about her situation and is bullied by one mean boy in particular. But when the school counselor starts a small group therapy session, Robinson learns that everyone carries their burdens in different ways.

The book is multi-layered with great character development. I loved the ways it showed Robbie trying to deal with her anger, the bullying aspect and the ways Robbie's understanding or other people's problems and how they affect themselves and others.
