Hook's Revenge
Jocelyn is the daughter of the great Captain Hook, who she has never actually met. She has been raised by her mother's father who is finally fed up by her antics. So Jocelyn is sent off to finishing school where of course she doesn't fit in. Jocelyn doesn't want to fit in, she wants to be a pirate and avenge her father. At finishing school, Jocelyn only makes friends with the cook's boy Roger. They sneak off every chance they get to an abandoned carriage house filled with rejects from the school. There they dream about going on adventures. Their friendship does not go unnoticed and the headmistress believes it is more than friends. So Roger is shipped off to the workhouse and Jocelyn is left on her own. When she receives a note from her father, she jumps at the chance to head to Neverland.
In Neverland, Jocelyn finds Mr. Smee and hires herself a pirate crew. They set off to find the legendary crocodile who ate Captain Hook. While her crew is not the best, they make up for it in zest for piracy. They encounter the crocodile several times, but the crocodile gets the better of Jocelyn. They also encounter Peter Pan and the lost boys as well as Indian tribes and faeries. Jocelyn discovers Roger has become a lost boy and forgotten his life before. Jocelyn has to find her strength to defeat the crocodile and save Roger.
This was actually a lot better than I thought it was going to be. I loved Jocelyn. She is not always the nicest but she tries and makes no apologies. I loved that she didn't want to be a lady and fit in at finishing school. She wants to have adventures and be a pirate like her father. However, she values her crew and her friends and will go to great lengths for them. I might just have to read the next book in the series and see if she finds Captain Hook's treasure.
