Thyme wasn't happy about moving to New York from San Diego but whatever it took to help her brother, Val, was what needed to be done. Val was suffering from a type of cancer and needed to enter a special medical trial to try to keep the cancer at bay.

This is a wonderful coming-of-age book about a sibling dealing with a sick brother and how the illness can affect the whole family. It explored the conflicting emotions of guilt and anger at the situation which sometimes manifests toward her parents and little brother.

I love this book. It was a very real depiction of the anguish of having a very sick member of the family. I also loved the character development throughout. It is worth the read.
