Come to the Osage County Library to enjoy Lana Hunt's art show entitled "Recollection and Anemoia". Her show will be available for viewing from January 3 through February 29 in the Woodland Art Gallery. A reception in her honor will be on Saturday, January 13 from 12-1:30 pm.
Lana (Dawson) Hunt was born in 1987 and has lived in Jefferson City, Missouri for most of her life. As a child she loved to explore the woods; searching for secret hide-outs, rocks, wildflowers, and anything else that she deemed beautiful. Her talent and love for art was cultivated during her childhood by her family and friends. Her mother specifically recognized her gift and encouraged her by purchasing many art supplies, books and providing her with creative opportunities. As she grew older, she knew that she wanted to pursue a career in the arts.
Lana graduated from Lincoln University in the spring of 2014 magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Art Education. She has been teaching visual art for eleven years and has spent time developing her craft with middle and high school students.
She is married to her husband, Casey, and together they have two children, Saida-16 and August-14. After living in several different houses and communities over the course of her early adult life, she has found herself back "home" living near her parents and family.
Lana is inspired by her Missouri roots and the many people that she has come to know through the course of her life's path. She is currently interested in stories of the past and how they are recorded and shared with future generations.
