Program Description
Description
The Cold War began in 1945 and ended with the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. It was fraught with drama and danger, including several close calls with nuclear war. Although the U.S,. and the U.S.S. R. were never directly in conflict, there were numerous proxy wars, the Korean War and Vietnam War being only the best known. And politics, both international and domestic, were deeply affected. We will live with the downstream effects of the Cold War for many decades to come. Dr. Smith will explore the key events from and especially the politics of this extraordinary period in modern world history.
