Allen Eskens is the author of critically acclaimed and award-winning novels. In 1991, he began writing Nothing More Dangerous as a way to explore his feelings about prejudice and racism, working sporadically on the story during the intervening years. He published the book--his sixth--last year to high praise from both national and local publications. Nothing More Dangerous is different from his previous works; it's a story set in the Missouri Ozarks in the 1970s with a focus on family, loyalty, friendship and simmering racial tension. Reviewers have called the book "a stunning small-town mystery" (New York Times Book Review) and "a coming-of-age book to rival some of the best..." (Library Journal, starred review). A mid-Missouri native, Eskens is a retired criminal defense lawyer who lives in Minnesota. After his presentation, Eskens will sign books and meet with local fans and appreciative readers.
