Description

Local sports writer, journalist, and photographer, Neal A. Johnson, will have his work displayed in the Woodland Art Gallery from October 4 until November 30 for your viewing enjoyment.

Neal A. Johnson, 51, has been a professional photographer for many years since learning on his own the elements of the darkroom. That was in 1997, when he started his career in the media at the California Democrat.  In 2002, Neal moved to Linn when he was hired as the sports editor for the UD. In the beginning, he developed all the photos, but soon the newspaper purchased digital cameras, opening an entirely new way of taking photos.  Neal’s photography career has focused mainly on sports action, but he loves nature scenes and takes on projects when time permits. From family portraits to pet photos, senior pictures, engagements, and weddings, Neal enjoys all forms of photographic expression.  In 2004, Neal formed Johnson Productions, LLC, to handle any creative projects that arise.  As the UD Sports editor, Neal covers a lot of games throughout the year, resulting in thousands of photos.  Neal maintains ownership of the photos published in the newspaper and makes them available to parents.  An award-winning photographer, Neal says he preserves memories as every photo tells a story and calls to mind the circumstances surrounding it for those involved.

He thanks the Missouri River Regional Library’s Linn branch for showcasing his work.

Neal lives in Linn with his wife, Karima. They have a blended family that includes Neal’s children, Chloe and Drayden, and Kari’s kids, Scott (with his wife, Sasha, and their children, Shamar, Shayla, and Samaya), Aariel, and Richard.  To see more photos, visit Photos By Neal on Facebook, or text Neal at 573-338-0706 to book a sitting.

A reception in Neal's honor will be held on Saturday, October 14 from 11 am-1 pm in the Woodland Art Gallery at the Osage County Library.  Light refreshments will be served.
