Description
Adelle Waldman will discuss the writing of Help Wanted, which follows a team of low-wage workers at an unnamed big-box store in a rural community. It's a work environment Waldman experienced herself when she moved from Brooklyn to a small New York city. By turns comic and tragic, the characters are relatable and exemplify working conditions faced by a large number of U.S. workers in today's economy. The novel was named best book of the year by The New Yorker and The Economist, an editors' choice by The New York Times Book Review, and a "must-read" by Time, Booklist and a host of other publications. Her book will be available for sale and signing after the presentation.
