To Jefferson City residents, the Missouri River bridge is a cherished landmark. But at the turn of the 19th century, there was a possibility that the state capital could be moved to Sedalia. Construction of a bridge played a major part in that story, as Wayne Johnson explains in his new book, Jefferson City's First Bridge. Johnson, a retired engineer, spent several years researching the bridge's history, and he will show photos documenting the construction of this impressive structure and comment on his research.
