Description

Michelle Brooks will discuss the research she and her co-author, Nancy Arnold, have completed for their new book, These Honored Dead: Jefferson City National Cemetery. The authors' storytelling and genealogy skills bring to life the individuals buried under the uniform white markers at the cemetery. More than 1,200 men and women are buried in the eastern one-quarter of the 1000-block of East McCarty Street, which shares a matching outer wall of limestone and wrought iron with the Woodland-Old City Cemetery next door. One of the smallest remaining national cemeteries, it holds generations of local history as well as preserving sacrifices of those far from home.

The book will be available for signing and sale after the program.
