New Parking Available for Patrons
Many of our patrons may remember when the library rented the old Highway Administration building at 209 Adams Street, including the entire parking lot for patron and staff use. When library staff moved from that building in 2019 and the County purchased it, the library began renting spaces from them. Over the last couple of years, the County has needed more parking for their own staff and the library has had to be adaptable. Most recently, the library administration decided to rent staff parking behind the Chamber of Commerce to create 10 parking spots (against the building) for patrons to use.
Though we are trying to get the word out to everyone about these parking spaces, it’s hard to change the way we’ve done something since 2006! There is a sign to the left of the parking lot stating the lot is owned by Cole County and trespassers will be towed. We realize a fair amount of you are seeing this sign and understandably not even trying to enter the parking lot. However, next time you need to come to the library, go ahead and pull into the lot and find these newly designated spots (against the building) for you, our patrons...and please, please pass this information onto a library loving friend.
