How do I get a library card?

When applying for a library card, please have a photo ID and a valid proof of address available.

All residents of Cole and Osage Counties, ages 5 and up, are eligible for a Library card. Missouri River Regional Library also has reciprocal agreements with Daniel Boone Regional Library, Scenic Regional Library, Heartland Regional Library and Price James Memorial Library in Tipton.

Patrons of these libraries may use MRRL facilities at no charge and in exchange, MRRL patrons may use their facilities. Other Missouri residents may also use MRRL for an annual fee. Currently, the fee is $50 for an individual card or a family card.

Applicants age 5 to 17 years must have a parent or legal guardian sign the application.

Applicants age 18 and up must present an ID (Drivers license, school ID, voter ID, etc.) with current address.

Temporary cards:

College students attending local universities may obtain a 1 year temporary card with proper student ID.

State legislators may also apply for a card.

Resident cards expire two years from issue date and are nontransferable. Only YOU may use your Library card. Please be aware that you will need the ID and current address information when you apply for a card.

How long may I check out items?

Books, books on tape, music CDs, and movies may be checked out for 3 weeks. Walk-In Best Sellers, and some DVD’s may be checked out for 7 days.

How many of each item may I check out?

You may check out 100 items at a time. However, other items do have the following limits: Videos/DVDs, Books on CD, Magazines and Music CDs – 6; Walk-in Bestsellers – 2

What if I’m not finished with my items?

You may renew your items by coming in, renewing online, or calling the circulation desk at 573-634-2464 before the due date.

How do I use the Library’s Internet Catalog to access my account?

You can click on the MRRL Catalog link, then click on “My Library Account” to get to your account information. You will be asked for your library card number.

What if I can’t make it to the Library and my items are due?

You have several options:

  • Renew your items online, using our catalog.
  • Call the circulation desk at 573-634-2464 and renew your items over the phone.
  • Drop your items off at a drop box or branch location.
What if my items are overdue?

MRRL charges $.20 per day, per item, for overdue items.

  • To be responsible for all items checked out on this card
  • To pay for damages to items checked out on this card
  • To pay the replacement cost of lost items
  • To report loss or theft of card immediately
  • To not lend this card to anyone else
  • To accept responsibility for all fines incurred
  • To abide by present and future rules of the library, including computer and Internet access policies

I understand that:

  • All cards expire every two years; renewals are free of charge
  • The replacement cost of a card is $1.00 if the card is lost or damaged

As the parent/guardian of the minor child whose name is stated above, I am aware that such child has a library card granting access to the content at Missouri River Regional Library. I understand this may include print or electronic materials of books, periodicals, databases, websites, or the like and that such information may include both fiction and nonfiction written information and that some electronic sources may include video or other interactive portions of content.

I understand that Library staff, directors, or other official persons affiliated with the Library do not have supervisory duty over my Child and that it is my responsibility to monitor the Child’s behavior and consumption of content, in any and all forms.
