July 2014

  • Thursday, July 17th from 6:00-8:00 pm in the Art Gallery: Coding and Game Design, Part Two: Designing Games Learn about coding as it applies to game design with local indie game designer, David Cobb. Bring your laptop if you have one.  Space is limited for this program and reservations are recommended.
  • Saturday, July 19th from 1:00-4:00 pm in the Art Gallery: Anime Mini-Convention It's time again for our semi-annual Anime Mini-Convention!  Cosplay, food, crafts, prizes and more!
  • Monday, July 21st from 2:00-4:00 pm in the Art Gallery: Minecraft Monday Come join other Minecraft enthusiasts as we collaborate using the library's very own server. 
  • Thursday, July 24th from 4:00-6:00 pm in the Art Gallery: DIY Mini-Weaponry Ponder the peculiarities of physics and propulsion as you create miniature bows, trebuchets, catapults and other weaponry.
  • Friday, July 25th from 7:00-9:00 pm in the Art Gallery: Teen Murder Mystery Night Someone is dead and it's up to you to find to the culprit.  Follow the clues, interrogate the suspects and solve the crime.  This original murder mystery is brought to you by MRRL's very own Mark Wegman and his merry troupe of Scene One Theater players.  Reservations required.
  • Thursday, July 31st from 6:00-8:00 pm in the Story Hour Room: Make your own "lava lamp" out of unexpected materials.  It won't light up, but it will still look really cool.

 

August 2014

  • First Tuesdays from 6:00-8:00 pm in the Story Hour Room: Knitting in the Library  Ages 12 and up are welcome.  Experienced knitters will be on hand for assistance.  Crocheters and other fiber artists welcome too!  BYON (Bring Your Own Needles)!
  • Wednesday, August 6th from 7:00-8:30 pm in the Art Gallery: Improv Games Are you a theater person?  A Speech and Debate team member? Or are you just a fan of the hilarious show, "Whose Line is it Anyway?"  If any or all of these apply to you, be sure to come out and test your improvisation skills with a little help from MRRL's own Mark Wegman.
  • Friday & Saturday, August 7th & 8th from 7:00 pm - 7:00 am: Teen Summer Reading Club Lock-InYou've been asking for this for years and now we're really doing it! Games, movies, crafts, food, prizes and more!  Finish the Teen Summer Reading Challenge by August 8th to receive your invitation to our first-ever overnight lock-in.  Only those with invitations will be allowed in.  If you are a parent and wish to volunteer as a chaperone for this event, please contact Courtney Waters at 634-6064, ext. 248 or watersc@mrrl.org.
  • Thursday, August 14th from 4:00-6:00 pm in the Art Gallery: Back to School Open House Welcome back to school!  Come see what the library has to offer you during the school year.  Meet members of our various clubs, play some games and meet your librarian.
