Helen Rigdon comes to MRRL from the Kansas City, Kansas Public Library system where she served as Assistant Director and guided the system in writing its first ever strategic plan.  Helen has also served as Director at the Coffeyville (KS) Public Library, Library Director at Coffeyville (KS) Community College and Director of Library Services at Wichita (KS) Area Technical School.
Helen plans to focus on supplying the best services possible to the patrons of the Cole County, Osage County and Jefferson City areas, while being a good steward of tax-payer money.  By studying efficiencies and streamlining processes in all departments she plans to continue offering the best library services possible.
Rigdon is new to Jefferson City and Missouri.  Her hometown is Coffeyville, KS.   She obtained her Masters of Library Science degree from Emporia State University and her Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from Friends University.  Rigdon is a member of the Missouri Library Association, the Public Library Association, and the American Library Association.  She is currently serving on the Downtown Action Team for the Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce transformation plan and will be an active member of the community.  
Helen is the mother of two sons, Adam and Alec and an adorable dog, Zoe.  She is also an avid Kansas State University fan but has much in common with MU fans as she’s not fond of KU at all!
